Funwe Farm's main product is seed maize (see right). It is supplied fully tested and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, typical test results being 99.8% purity and 99% germination. It is Open Pollinated Variety type ZM 621 maize seed, with the following characteristics:
• Composite seed that can be saved and planted again for three seasons while maintaining its characteristics and yield level – unlike hybrid seed which cannot be planted again
• Medium maturing (120 – 130 days) suitable for medium and high altitude areas, and can mature even earlier (110 – 120 days) in low altitude areas
• With fertiliser, yield levels can exceed 4,000 kg/hectare – which is slightly less than hybrid seed, but significantly greater than local seed. |

• Without fertiliser, the yield is lower - but it is higher than that from hybrid seed grown without fertiliser
• White, flinty, poundable grain, giving a tasty nsima
• High protein content
• High specific density
• Resistant to grey leaf spot and maize streak virus
• Tolerant to moisture stress
Customers who have grown maize from this seed are extremely satisfied with the yield and quality of their crops and the taste of the nsima.
The seed sorghum is Open Pollinated Variety white pilira type 1. It is supplied fully tested and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The pigeon pea seed is Open Pollinated Variety ICP9145 or Sauma type. It is supplied fully tested and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture.
